# The Models Tab

The models tab shows any models loaded into the project. Depending upon how your project was onboarded there may be a single model or multiple models.

## Showing and Hiding Models

Models can be hidden or shown by clicking on the light bulb next to each model. Hiding a model is temporary and next time the model loads the model will be reloaded.

One of the model will have a ‘Primary’ tag, and unlike the other models the primary model is special as this model defines the environment and is created during the onboarding process.  This model&#x20;

## Edit Model Settings

The Edit Model dialog provides the functionality to modify, update, or delete the model. The '**Show on Load**' feature determines whether the model is automatically loaded upon accessing the project.&#x20;

This button tells Twinview  if it should make the model visible  default in the environment on load or if its default status is non-visible.&#x20;

This is useful to prevent loading unnecessary models each time, but has the convenience of having them ready to flip on if needed for a specific purpose.   A good example of this is Steel wall framing which sits inside of the architectural walls; for day to day use this isn't really needed in the model, however useful to have at hand to turn on if needed.

A scenario where you might want to disable the 'Display on Load' option could be for an SFS stud-work model. Loading hundreds of thousands of geometric elements that are concealed within walls can lead to unnecessary model load times. However, keeping this model loaded but hidden allows for its activation when required, such as locating a stud for mounting a TV on the wall.

The '**x,y,z offset**' option enables manual repositioning of the models if necessary.  This is useful if the models do not share the same global/shared coordinates and manually moving one or more of the models is necessary.  &#x20;

### Replacing a model

You can replace an existing model in Twinview.  Twinview has built in change management that happens automatically.&#x20;

For complex models with extensive history and/or modifications made within Twinview since the original upload—including asset replacements, data additions/deletions/alterations, design options, and moved assets—it is recommended to reach out to your Twinview implementation specialist or Customer Success Manager for guidance and support as it is possible you can get your data out of sync if not managed properly.

### Adding Models

You can add new models to your project by clicking the Add Model button on the Model Tab.  Twinview supports over 80 different native file formats, as well as open formats such as IFC.  &#x20;

Ideally all the models should share the same coordinate location, however if this is not the case then there is the ability to define a X,Y and Z offset to pull the model into position (See example of how to do this here).
